GAYLORDSVILLE, CONNECTICUT — COMING SOON

Glimmer Grove

A former Methodist church, built 1824. Becoming what it has always been.

“Come in. There’s room for you here.”

THE NAME

What Is A Glimmer

A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger. It’s a small, unbidden moment of safety and warmth — the smell of fresh coffee, a familiar voice, sunlight through old church windows on a winter morning.

Glimmer Grove is designed to produce them. Deliberately. Consistently. For everyone who walks through the door.

A place that was already thinking of you.

A white cup of cappuccino with foam art on top, placed on a white saucer with a cookie and spoon, on a wooden table. Green houseplants and a framed picture are in the background.

THE SPACE

A Church That Has Always Been a Gathering Place

This building has held community for 200 years. The original pews. The balcony. The proportions of a room built for people to face something together.

All of it stays. All of it serves.

Glimmer Grove is not a renovation. It is a continuation.

A white coffee cup with latte art on a saucer, a slice of toast, and a spoon on a wooden table, with a blurred green plant and framed photo in the background.
A bright yellow flower bouquet with green leaves in a clear jar, a green coffee mug with a hot beverage, and a matching green saucer on a wooden table in a cafe with black walls and yellow triangle decals.

A Living Library

Floor-to-ceiling shelves lining the sanctuary walls. Books donated, borrowed, returned, and added to by the community. Local history. Recovery literature. Queer fiction. Cookbooks. Seed-saving guides. The backdrop for everything that happens here.

💻

CO-WORKING

Work Here. Bring Your Kids.

Two zones in the sanctuary — a family-friendly area and a quieter focus zone. High-speed internet, real desks, meeting rooms. The Color Cup system keeps the space comfortable for everyone. Monthly memberships · Dedicated desks · Drop-in day passes.

🌾

CHILDREN’S WING

A Kingdom for Children

In the rectory adjacent to the church: a sensory and climbing room, a music room, a game room, and a playground out back. Designed for children to be genuinely engaged while parents work, recover, gather, or breathe. Parents remain responsible for their children throughout.

🌱

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING

Something for Everyone

SMART Recovery meetings — secular, science-based, 2–3 times per week, always free · Postpartum support (drop-in and structured) · Grief support with local counseling partners · Queer Nights monthly · Cooking classes · Knit & Knatter · Community dinners · Seasonal celebrations · Event space for weddings and private gatherings.

Glimmer Grove is intentionally and permanently alcohol-free.

Not as a restriction as a design choice. A space where everyone, regardless of their relationship with alcohol, can be fully present. Our coffee and tea mocktail menu is designed to be the thing you want to order.
